NSIC-Ct12
(NAVKAR 5) is the first cotton hybrid recommended for commercial planting in
the Philippines. Developed by the NAVKAR Hybrid Seeds Pvt. Ltd. in India. It
was found adapted to local environments after three years of continuous evaluation.
Today, NAVKAR 5 is becoming popular among private cotton growers and individual
farmers because of its outstanding features over the currently recommended locally-bred
varieties These are as follows:
Highly adapted to prime and marginal areas of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan,
and Tarlac in Luzon, Iloilo and Negros Oriental in the Visayas; South and
North Cotabato and Davao del Sur in Mindanao.
- Hairy leaves that make it tolerant to leafhoppers.

reproductive organ development period that enables it to escape pest attack.

leaves senesce and fall as plant matures which speeds up drying of flossed
bolls.

boll productivity of 15-56 bolls per plant.
